Corona’s Martial Arts Academy is home to Pung Wol Kwan, or House of Wind and Moon. Pung Wol Kwan draws on the leadership and extensive experience of Kwan Jang Nim Ken Corona and his background in Korean and Japanese martial arts. Pung Wol Kwan emphasizes the growth and development of complete martial artists using a curriculum that is extremely comprehensive and designed to transform students (both beginners and the most advanced) into expert martial artists. There are Pung Wol Kwan affiliated schools in Arizona, Washington, Texas and Canada.

Ken Corona, has devoted his life to perfecting and teaching martial arts. Master Corona is an internationally-recognized master instructor. In 2011, we will celebrate 40 years of his teaching in Arizona. His students have ranged from military, police, doctors, lawyers, school teachers, business owners, to mom, dads and children ages 3-93. In keeping with true martial arts tradition, his quest for physical mastery has gone hand-in-hand with his pursuit of intellectual excellence.

Due to his noteworthy ability and skills, Master Corona was selected by local law enforcement agencies as an expert trainer for police defensive tactics, including personnel from DPS, Phoenix, Glendale, Tolleson, Buckeye and Tempe Police Departments. Master Corona is continuing his studies in Oriental Medicine, breathing exercises, philosophy and anatomy to continually offer his students the finest integrated and comprehensive system of instruction available.

Here are just a few of his achievements:

  • Studied Judo, Aikido and Jujitsu under the direct tutelage of renowned Master of Japanese martial arts Jsuneji “Tony” Sakakibara, graduate of Japan’s International Kodokan training center, as well as Sensei Robert Corrella
  • Studied Hwa Rang Do under Grand master Dr. Joo Bang Lee. After an extensive full time apprenticeship, Master Corona became one of the first Americans to receive the Master Instructor Level in Hwa Rang Do.
